APOLOGIES
 
Apologies in love are difficult,
for it is not enough to regret
that feelings are hurt 
or the one you love is angry.
 
You must confess your sins aloud,
take responsibility for the damage
and publicly proclaim your guilt 
without hesitation or qualification. 
 
You could try buying flowers
and making a copy of this poem,
but forgiveness is never guaranteed
with even the most abject apology.
